About Gamer's Salvation: Gamer's Salvation is a bevy of eccentric gamers and gaming enthusiasts based at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. Founded mainly to promote computer gaming, it also intends to arrange gaming events across the city.
FIFA '09 Championship: FIFA '09 by EA sports has been a revelation for gamers ever since it was introduced. Clearly coherent with what EA sports says about it-"Experience the most authentic football simulation EA SPORTS™ has delivered as you live the fantasy of playing as a professional player and customize the game to suit your style and ability." Cashing in on the enthusiasm it inspires among the gamers Gamer's Salvation chose FIFA '09 tournament as their first venture.Entry fee was fixed at a reasonable Rs.50(including complementary snacks). Held on 11th and 12th June 2009, here is a full coverage of the same..
The setup: The gaming setup was kept as simple as possible. A joystick(USB X-Box 360) and a keyboard. One on one matches between participants. For the face off to be fair for both sides, it was decided to hold two legs- home and away. Keyboard was dubbed as home and joystick as away given the difficulty in adapting to a never-used-before joystick. Each leg was of 10 minuits. Gamers were allowed to choose team of their choice provided that the opponent hasn't chosen the same.

Match of the Tournament:

Suyash vs Alok(chhota pomya)

1st leg 3-5

2nd leg 3-1

aggregate score- 6-6

Suyash wins on away goals

The Victorious:

Ashish Jagtap:Winner:

Master of both joystick and keyboard, his control on crossing and through balls is almost tyrannical.
He knocked out:
amey 5-3
somesh kapadia 4-3
Suyash 1-0

Suyash Nadkarni:Runner up:
Had an advantage of having played with X-box joystic previously.Lost the final but gave the winner tough time with joystick before he ceded in the second leg.
Alok 6-6
Kalsi 5-3
Ashish 0-1

My Take: It is always nice to be a part of something like this. I had real fun organizing it. Everything was a new experience right from getting the people in to participate, making ends meet, losing the first game itself (ya i did!). The sanguine atmosphere really charges you up. All I would say is this is not it. A lot is yet to come. So game on folks..
